PC-Geolocation System (PCGS)
(PCGS) provides very precise and near-instantaneous geolocation information regarding the physical locations of transmitters of Radio Frequency (RF) signals. The system operates on the technologically advanced principles and techniques commonly known as Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA). Until recently, systems based upon this technology were much more expensive, required much more computing resources, and were primarily available only to the military and Department of Defense. However, with the advent of high-speed and very small computers (including PC’s) and advances in network technology, TDOA systems are now realizable and very affordable to a wider range of users.
a. Performs precision geolocation of RF emitters using
1. Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) technique
b. Deployed in DoD, US Coast Guard and Federal Communication Commission sites
c. Employs Two Types of “Sites”:
1. Remote Sites (where receivers and data collection are performed; minimum of 3 required)
2. Base/Client sites (where user/operator(s) are located, and where geolocation processing and
computations are performed)
